Man nabbed for alleged assault in June case

Fairfield police arrested 24-year-old Bridgeport resident German Fabricio Molina for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in a case going back to June 5.

On that day, a witness told police he saw a man punch a woman in the face in the parking lot of a shopping center at Black Rock Turnpike and Tunxis Hill Road. According to police reports, another witness said she saw the woman lying on the ground with a bloody nose near an ATM machine in the lot.

The second witness said while she was talking to the woman, a man in a blue Toyota Corolla pulled up, grabbed the bloodied woman by the arm, pulled her inside the car and drove off.

Police were able to track down the alleged assailant through video taken by a surveillance camera at the ATM. They said the man was Molina, the woman’s boyfriend, and an argument between them about money had turned physical.

The couple’s two-year-old son was in the car’s back seat during the incident.

Molina was arrested by Fairfield police at his residence in Bridgeport yesterday and charged with assault, injury and risk of impairing morals. He was held on $25,000 bond.
