Democratic primary for state rep in Fairfield

Polls closed at 8 p.m. throughout Connecticut as Republicans choose between State Sen. John McKinney of Fairfield and former ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley of Greenwich as the challenger to Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

In Fairfield, Selectman Cristin McCarthy Vahey and Democratic Registrar of Voters Matt Waggner are vying to be the Democratic candidate for the state representative seat currently held by Kim Fawcett. Fawcett is running for state Senate seat being vacated by McKinney.
