A former aide at Fairfield Ludlowe High School was arrested Monday, charged with grabbing a female student and dragging her inside the school last spring.

John J. Nuzzolo, 24, of Oxford, resigned from his paraprofessional position shortly after the May 29 incident.

He was charged with unlawful restrained after police said Nuzzolo grabbed a 17-year-old female student by her backpack and dragged her about 30 feet down the hallway. The girl told police Nuzzolo let her go and walked away when she screamed and told him to stop.

The student was not injured in the incident, which occurred in front of witnesses during the 11:45 change of classes, police said.

Nuzzolo turned himself in to police and was released on a $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on Aug. 25.
