Bicycle thief

A $212 Trayl Trax mountain bike was the latest bicycle to be stolen in the rash of bicycle thefts to hit Fairfield in recent months, according to police.

The bike was taken from a front yard on Shoreham Village Drive sometime during the past two weeks, police said.

Check fraud

On August 5, a Fairfield man reported to police that someone had cashed three fraudulent checks in Milford against his bank account. The man discovered the fraud when he tried to write a check to the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club and found the account had been emptied.

Playground theft

According to police reports, an iPhone was taken from a backpack at a park on Palamar Drive while its owner was playing basketball there on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The theft was reported to have occurred at 6 p.m.

It doesn’t pay to exercise

A credit card and $100 were reported stolen from a locked vehicle parked at Planet Fitness, on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. The items were reportedly taken between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, police said.

Flooring swiped

During the overnight hours between last night and this morning, someone backed on to a construction site on Lucille Street and stole a pallet of bluestone worth $1,000, according to police reports.
