Fairfield falls to Goffstown in New England Regionals

Fairfield American lost to Goffstown Junior (N.H.), 4-2, in its third game in pool play at the New England Little League Regional at Breen Field in Bristol on Sunday night.

Fairfield, the Connecticut champion, will take a 4-1 record into its final pool game with Cumberland (R.I.) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Fairfield opened with a 9-4 victory over Williston (Vermont) and then defeated Falmouth (Maine) by a score of 10-0. Cumberland defeated Barnstable (Mass.), 25-5, in its only pool game.

Derek Steckowych pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and accounted for all four Goffstown runs, including a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning.

Down 4-0, Vince Camera had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth for Fairfield. John Reynolds singled in a run in the fifth.
