Calls of “Rolling!” “Cut!” and “Quiet on set!” rang out over Noyes Road in Fairfield yesterday afternoon, bringing a touch of Hollywood excitement to the otherwise sleepy residential street.

There were no stars in evidence in front of the yellow colonial where, according to Lifetime Channel spokesperson Joanna Younger, actress Melissa Joan Hart is filming a holiday movie called Santa Con, but crew members with funky haircuts and California license plates strolled across the lawn, spoke into walkie-talkies and helped themselves to the generously stocked “craft table” full of pedestrian noshes like peanut butter and pretzels, along with a more hip and exotic chia-seed drink.

Younger said the movie’s plot centers on a con-man whose dirty deeds earn him a court-ordered stint as a department-store Santa. According to Lifetime’s description of the film, when the ex-con-turned-Santa carelessly promises to bring a boy’s estranged parents back together, he decides to make good on his word.

Besides Hart, known for her roles in the television series Melissa & Joey and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, the movie also features Cheers’ John Ratzenberger, talk-show host Wendy Williams and Barry Watson.

Filming will continue through August 6, Younger said, and the movie is set to air during the holiday season.
