Wolfpack pitching carries them forward at 15U Nationals

The Connecticut Wolfpack 15U baseball team went 7-0 in pool play at the National Championships, being held in Atlanta.
With the perfect slate among the 184 teams that began the tourney, the Wolfpack moved on to the round of 23-team playoffs, .
Connecticut was knocked out in the round of 16 by the Georgia Jackets, who advanced to the semifinals to be played today, Friday, June 27.
The Wolfpack opened play on Friday, June 20, with a 10-2 win over Team DeMarini (Ga.). Max Richlin from Westport pitched five-plus innings and gave up only one earned run.
Connecticut defeated the Carolina Cubs, 8-0, later in the day. Fairfield’s Ryan Meury pitched a five-inning complete game shut out.
On Saturday, June 21, Clay Curley from Fairfield pitched five-plus innings and didn’t give up an earned run in a 9-1 victory over Mizuno Team Georgia.
The Wolfpack moved to 4-0 on Sunday, June 22, as they defeated Georgia Elite by a 5-2 margin. Westport’s Thomas Cullimore pitched a seven-inning complete game and gave up only one earned run.
Play continued on Monday, June 23, when Connecticut defeated S3 Texas by a count of 10-2. Johnny Hazzard from Norwalk pitched a five-inning complete game and gave up only two earned runs.
The winning streak went to six games with a 10-5 victory over the St. Louis Gamers on Tuesday, June 24. Fairfield’s Will Lucas pitched four innings and Meury pitched two shut out innings in relief.
The Wolfpack completed qualifying for the round of 23 on Wednesday, June 25, when they defeated Tri-State Arsenal (N.J.), 8-0. Curley pitched five shut out innings and Tyler Wincig (N.Y.) pitched one shut out inning in relief.
