Reports: Elderly man charged after allegedly shooting woodchucks

Fairfield police are investigating after two animals were shot at a home on Black Rock Turnpike Wednesday afternoon.

Officers arrived at 3840 Black Rock Turnpike to find an elderly man with a gun. Two animals had been shot, and police said the man did not initially respond to their commands but was ultimately taken into custody, police said.

NBC Connecticut is reporting the identity of the man has not been revealed as of this time.

The Connecticut Post is reporting: The animals were two woodchucks shot in a garage, according to a Post photographer on scene. That person is in custody, Fairfield police say. An ambulance was sent to the scene to take the person away for “observation.”
