Reports: It was a school project on the train tracks

It was a child’s school project that caused the trains to be shut down at the Fairfield station Friday morning, according to news reports.

Before 6 a.m. today, trains were suspended in and out of the Fairfield train station in downtown after a suspicious package was discovered on the tracks.

The bomb squad was called in, and following an investigation, train service was restored around 8:30 this morning.

Both Metro-North and Amtrak service was disrupted during that time.
