Man poses as contractor, while another steals jewelry

After Fairfield couple is lured to backyard, another person enters house

A distraction burglary was reported in Fairfield Tuesday, June 10.

Around 10:30 Tuesday morning, a person posing as a contractor convinced an elderly Suzanne Circle couple to accompany him to their backyard under the guise of checking some of their neighbors’ trees that he said he needed to cut down as part of a project.

While they were in the backyard, a second subject entered the home and stole jewelry.

Suzanne Circle is located off Blueridge Road, which intersects with Melville Avenue.

The only description of the suspect is a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man in his early 40s with short, dark hair and a round face.

Fairfield Police said the incident may be linked to fraudulent driveway pavers who often approach residents offering to seal driveways at ridiculously low prices only to gain access to the home or to intimidate homeowners to pay additional money.

Fairfield Police are asking residents to share information about this incident, especially with elderly neighbors, and to report any suspicious incidents to Fairfield Police at 203-254-4800.

Anonymous tips may be sent by texting “FPD” along with tip information to CRIMES (274637).
