Warde girls advance to state lacrosse semifinals

Caroline Lambert and Amanda Orvis scored three goals each and coach Tom Davis’ Fairfield Warde girls lacrosse team continued its program-best run in the Class L state tournament with a 9-8 victory over fourth-seeded William Hall High in West Hartford on Thursday, June 4.
Warde (13-5-1), seeded fifth and coming off its first state wins ever, will play top-seeded Glastonbury High (18-0-0) in the semifinals on Tuesday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at West Haven High.
Sarah Reilly scored two goals, Meredith Nerreau had one goal, and Lambert and Courtney Scheetz had assists in the win over Hall High (14-4-0). Rebecca Snitkoff had 13 saves in the game that found Warde leading 5-4 at the half.
The Mustangs dominated the second half in posting its first-ever state tournament victory when they defeated West Haven High, 17-10, on June 4.
Warde outscored the Westies (10-7) by a count of 9-3 to extend its 8-7 lead at the half.
Orvis tallied five goals, Reilly four, Nerreau three, Lambert and Scheetz two each and Hanna Dougherty one. Snitkoff had six saves.
