Xtreme 13U topple Ridgefield in Jr. Babe action

Down 9-2 in the third inning, Fairfield’s Xtreme 13U team stormed back to score eight runs defeating Ridgefield, 10-9, in Newtown on May 26, to highlight Fairfield Junior Babe Ruth League action from  May 26-June 1.
Offensively for Xtreme, Colin Sullivan went 4-for-4 and Spencer Jones went 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the comeback.
In addition, Matt Hochberg stroked two hits and scored three runs. Vince Bartiromo had two hits and scored two runs.
Defensively, Bartiromo came in to pitch in the fourth inning shutting down Ridgefield as he pitched four efficient innings of no-hit ball.
He only needed 30 pitches to take care of the last 15 Ridgefield batters behind a stellar defense.
Paul Toner, Ryan Dean and Noah Kane also came up big with clutch hits in Fairfield’s win.
Bigelow Tea 9, Shuckies 8
Vincent Bartiromo had a  solid pitching performance, three innings with five strikeouts.
Luke Finnegan started the first with a stand-up triple with a blast to deep left center, as Bigelow Tea took an 5-0 lead 5-0 through five innings.
After Shuckies rallied to lead 8-5 in the sixth, Stuart Martin came in to stop the bleeding.
In the bottom of the inning, Bigelow Tea scored twice to go back in front and Martin pitched a scoreless seventh.
Bigelow won the game in the home seventh when with runners on second and third and no outs in the book, a throwing error on a pickoff attempt led the go-ahead run crossing the plate.
Bigelow Tea 13, Monroe 3
Bigelow put together an 11-hit attack, with Vincent Bartiromo going 3-for-4  with two walks. Strong pitching from Ryan Dean, going three innings with with strikeouts, and Luke Finnegan, who came in to close out the last two innings striking out three, secured the decision.

Westport Bandits 5
Spencer Jones went 3-for-3 with a walk, two singles and one hop to the wall stand-up double to lead the attack. Jack McCarthy had two hits and two walks and also pitched three innings with five strikeouts. Ryan Dean pitched the last two innings, walking two and striking out three.
McGoldrick Fuel 9,
Monroe 8
McGoldrick battled back from a 5-2 deficit and held off a seventh-inning comeback attempt for the victory.
Connor Bennett pitched five innings and had two hits, including a double, to lead McGoldrick. Liam Holroyd contributed a couple hits and Peter Tavolacci a double.
Tallman Builders 11,
Bellows Chiropractic 1
Zach Day pitched five innings and Mark Garcia pitched the last. Day struck out seven batters in his five-inning performance. Day also had two doubles and drove home a pair of runs.
Kyle Miller was 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three times. Chris Nanai hit a double for two RBIs in the fourth inning.
With no outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Mark Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to score Kyle Miller with the go-ahead run.
McGoldrick Fuel 12,
Westport Wreckers 6
Tommy Kelly pitched five strong innings. Dan Fitzpatrick closed the game. Jackson Holroyd had a couple hits, including a triple. Liam Holroyd and Marc Ventura contributed a couple hits as well.
Tallman Builders 14,
Adam Miller 2
Mark Garcia pitched five and Dom Conte pitched one. Garcia was 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, double and a triple. He scored all three times on base and had four RBIs.
Zach Day had two sacrifice flies to drive in two runs. Ben Menkes hit a triple in the second for two RBIs.
McGoldrick Fuel 9,
Stratford Navy 1
Jackson Holroyd pitched over five innings before Dan Montanez closed out the game. Marc Ventura went 4-for-4.  Peter Tavolacci was 3-for-4, including a double. Holroyd had a double.

Plumbing and Heating 1
Zach Day and Chris Nanai pitched two innings each and Dom Conte pitched one. Conte and Ben Raggio were 3-for-3 at the plate. Zach Day drove in three runs.
