Aspetuck Land Trust annual meeting is June 11

A look at the land of the Aspetuck Land Trust is coming up during the organization’s annual meeting.

Set for Wednesday, June 11, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pequot Library in Southport, it will feature an evening of storytelling titled “Looking Back-Looking Ahead: How We’re Re-shaping Land and People.”

In addition to member voting to approve candidates for Aspetuck Land Trust’s Board of Directors, planned activities include the following presentations:

• 2013, a Vintage year: mapping, restoring and involving the community, given by David Brant, Aspetuck Land Trust executive director.

• “Two Scientists in Love” — A video tribute to Caryl and Edna Haskins, donors of the Haskins Preserve in Westport.

• “Blazing Trails with My Father and My Horse in Trout Brook Valley” —  Melissa Newman, the daughter of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward who is an Aspetuck Land Trust Board Member and Steward for the Newman-Poses Preserve in Westport.

Refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
