Ludlowe drops 2-1 decision in FCIACs

Fairfield Ludlowe right-handed pitcher Steve Zadravec allowed only two hits, but St. Joseph found a way to push two runs across the plate in winning a 2-1 decision in the FCIAC baseball quarterfinals in Trumbull on Tuesday.
The second-seeded Cadets’ Nick Williams allowed only one hit, walked one, and struck out 12.
The seventh-seeded Falcons (13-8) scored in the seventh after Connor Daley reached base on a one-out throwing error.
Nick Warkentin broke up  the no-hit bid and Dave Pierpont ended the shutout with a sharp RBI single to right.
With runners on the corners, Williams (6-2) enticed a pop fly to shortstop.
St. Joseph (15-7) scratched out a run in the first inning on a wild pitch and in the third on a throwing error.

Zadrevec struck out eight and retired the last 10 batters he faced. Fairfield had three errors. Only one St. Joseph run was earned.
