Police: Man drives 100 mph after smashing window

A Fairfield man took off on a high speed chase after breaking the windshield of his ex-girlfriend’s car Sept. 14 around 8 p.m.

Police said Kristian T. Bogacki, 26, of Coral Drive, went to a Country Road residence and smashed the windshield of a parked vehicle, causing $400 in damage.

He then took off after a man leaving the house, according to police.

Bogacki was allegedly driving 50 miles per hour on back roads, 80 mph on straight roads and reached 100 mph when the two cars got onto I-95. The cars got off Exit 22, where the man being chased managed to get to the Post Road.

Police stopped Bogacki’s car at South Benson and Old Post roads.

Bogacki was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace, police said. Bond was $1,000 for court Sept. 24.

Records at the Connecticut Judicial Department website indicate that he was also charged with reckless driving, with the same court date.
