Fairfield first responders rescue victim from underneath car

At 3:41 Tuesday afternoon the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls of a person struck by and underneath a white SUV at the intersection of Stratfield Road and Suburban Avenue.

On arrival, the Fairfield Fire Department reported a female trapped underneath the engine compartment of a white Subaru SUV, with a second bicyclist nearby who had apparently also been struck by the vehicle.

Fairfield and Bridgeport Fire personnel utilized pneumatic rescue tools and cribbing to lift the vehicle sufficiently to gain access and remove the injured girl who, along with the second patient, was transferred to the awaiting AMR ambulance for transport to Bridgeport Hospital.
