Suspicious man reported near golf course

Fairfield police are investigating reports of a suspicious person ear Sky Top Drive and the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.

A neighborhood boy told police that around 3:30 p.m. on both Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20, he saw a male watching him from a wooded area between his backyard and the golf course. On both occasions the man quickly fled into the woods after being noticed, police said.

The man is described as “younger looking, possibly white, tall and skinny, wearing a dark shirt.”

Police urged parents to:

•            Remain vigilant in observing and reporting any suspicious vehicles, people, activities or anything otherwise unusual in the area;

•            Regularly remind children to avoid suspicious people and vehicles;

•            Encourage children to talk about anything abnormal they observe during their day.

Police are asking parents to help as they investigate. Sgt. Eddie Weihe, supervisor of the School Safety Unit, can be reached at 203-255-8342; the Detective Bureau can be reached at 203-254-4840.
