Fawcett shares tips with Kiwanis members

State Rep. Kim Fawcett talks about advocacy and activism with Kiwanis Club members.

State Rep. Kim Fawcett recently stopped by the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield to discuss her passion for advocacy and activism in action.

The service group holds weekly luncheons and invites a variety of speakers to share their passions and professional expertise with the membership.

“I shared with them the strategy I use when I am working for change in the legislature,” Fawcett said. “No matter the issue, I always have a plan and that helps me get results.”

Fawcett also took questions from the audience regarding recent issues facing the legislature and her priorities for the 2014 legislative session.

“The lunch was an opportunity for me to learn about Kiwanis’ and the work that they do for Fairfield,” she said. “They provide multiple scholarships for youth and community services that range from coat and book drives to serving in Bridgeport to help fill unmet needs. I was impressed at how active the group has been over the years.”

Fairfield residents interested in joining the Kiwanis Club are welcome to attend one of its weekly social lunches, held at the Gaelic American Club Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
