Obituary: William H. Legg, 88, of Fairfield

William H. Legg, age 88, of Fairfield, the beloved husband for over sixty years to the late Diane Purdy Legg, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014 with his family by his side.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Whritnour) Legg, he was a Fairfield resident for forty-eight years.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in WWII. William was an electrician for nearly 30 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local # 501. He was also a longtime and active member of Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church.

William is survived by his loving children, Raymond Legg and his wife, Cynthia of Naugatuck and Carol Roth and her husband, Charles of Pittsburgh, PA. He will also be missed by four grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Legg and Kimberly Webster and her husband, James and Michelle Rodgers and her husband, Benjamin; and his great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Webster.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church, 1089 Fairfield Woods Rd. in Fairfield. Interment with Military Honors, will follow in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center.
