Prep, Notre Dame teams in state quarterfinals

The Fairfield Prep and Notre Dame basketball and hockey programs have advanced in the state tournament.

Prep’s top-seeded basketball team will play host to ninth-seeded Hillhouse High of New Haven in the Class LL quarterfinals on Monday at 7 p.m. The unbeaten Jesuits have defeated Newington (82-61) and East Hartford (73-46).

In Division I hockey, Prep is seeded third and will play sixth-seeded Glastonbury in the quarterfinal round at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bennett Rink in West Haven. The Jesuits defeated Xavier of Middletown (2-1) in the first round.

Notre Dame’s second-seeded Lancers will be at home to seventh-seeded Waterford in the Class M quarterfinals on Monday at 7. The Lancers have defeated Plainville (68-56).

On the ice. No. 1 Notre Dame will play No. 8 East Haven in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. The Lancers have defeated St. Joseph of Trumbull (7-2).

Ingalls Rink will host the Division I semifinals at 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
