People’s foundation awards $870K to community organizations

The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, awarded $870,220 in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout the communities it serves in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, including Operation Hope of Fairfield.

One hundred forty-one organizations received funding in support of activities that ranged from education programs and basic needs services to workforce development programs and affordable housing. The funding was distributed within the foundation’s three areas of focus, with 35% allocated to community development, 30% to youth development and 16% to affordable housing initiatives. The foundation also contributed 19% of its funding to local United Way organizations across its footprint through the People’s United Bank employee match campaign.

“People’s United Community Foundation continues to support the many nonprofit organizations that are working hard to respond to the needs of individuals and families throughout our communities,” said Vincent Santilli, the foundation’s executive director. “We are pleased with how our philanthropic dollars are aiding their success.”
