Police seek suspects in credit union holdup

Fairfield Police are asking the public for help as they search for three suspects in an armed robbery at the Fairfield County Credit Union, 1515 Black Rock Tpke., Monday, Jan. 27, shortly after noon.

No injuries were reported.

All three suspects are described as black males. No ages were given.

Police said the three suspects arrived in a blue 1996 Buick Century 4-door, bearing Connecticut license plate 136-XYB. Police later learned the car had been reported stolen from Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport Monday morning. The vehicle has not been recovered, police said.

One man remained, described only as wearing a red jacket, stayed with the car, police said.

The other two entered the bank. One suspect, who police was wearing a a blue hooded sweatshirt, brandished a handgun and demanded money from a teller.

An undetermined amount of money was taken.

The suspects south on Black Rock Turnpike toward I-95 in the stolen vehicle, Fairfield Police said. Officers from surrounding towns were notified via State Police Hot Line.

Fairfield Detectives processed the scene at the bank, interviewed bank employees and witnesses.

A photo released Tuesday by police shows the men and the car.
