Man threatens to have gun during shoplifting incident

Police are seeking a man who allegedly threatened to shoot security personnel at Bob’s Stores, 889 Post Road, Jan. 18 around 6:10 p.m.

Lourdes Rodriguez-Deets, 52, of Norwalk, was arrested after a brief chase and charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police said Rodriguez-Deets made an arrangement with an “unknown man” to ride bicycles to Bob’s and steal items.

Security told police that Rodriguez-Deets hid three pairs of Levi’s jeans, worth $186, in her purse and tried to leave the store.

When a security officer tried to grab her purse, the man she was with pushed the guard, then said he would shoot him and threatened to use a gun. Security backed off and the pair fled.

Rodriguez-Deets was caught near Clinton Street after a brief chase, with her riding a bicycle for part of it.

The man, described as elderly, with a white beard, and wearing a camouflage jacket, was not found. Rodriguez-Deets said she did not know his identity.

Bond was $240 for Rodriguez-Deets, with a court date of Jan 29.
