News correspondent Armen Keteyian was the guest speaker at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s celebrity breakfast fund-raiser.

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s celebrity breakfast fund-raiser, featuring Armen Keteyian, on Jan. 15 raised more than $43,000 for Wakeman programs, making it the most successful celebrity breakfast in Wakeman history.

Nearly 200 guests were in attendance to hear from speaker Keteyian, an Emmy-winning news correspondent, author and host of 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime. Matt Storch, chef and co-owner of Match in South Norwalk and The Chelsea in Fairfield created the morning’s menu. Each guest received a copy of Keteyian’s bestseller, The System: The Glory and Scandal of Big Time College Football.

“This year’s celebrity breakfast was really outstanding,” said Dave Blagys Wakeman executive director. “Thanks to the efforts of our event committee, we have raised the bar for the celebrity breakfast. Armen was a fantastic speaker, the food was hearty and delicious, and guests donated generously in support of the club. We are so grateful to everyone who made this event such a huge success.”

The breakfast is one of four fund-raisers on Wakeman’s special events calendar. Other fund-raisers include Freezin’ for a Reason on Feb. 22, the spring auction on April 26 and the corporate golf outing on June 2.
