Warde wrestlers earn two titles on same day

Fairfield Warde's varsity wrestling team won the Merrimack (N.H.) Hall of Fame Tournament title on Jan. 11.

Fairfield Warde’s varsity wrestling team won the Merrimack (N.H.) Hall of Fame Tournament title on Jan. 11.

Coach Jason Shaughnessy’s fourth-ranked Fairfield Warde wrestling team captured the Merrimack (N.H.) Hall of Fame Tournament title on Jan. 11.
Warde finished first in the 12-team field with 212 points. Londenbery (N.H.) was second with 200.
Warde (6-0) placed 10 of 14 wrestlers in the top four, had six finalists and three champions — Tim Kane (113 pounds), Dan Ebert (126) and Ahmed Hourani (heavyweight).
Kane and Hourani are undefeated on the season.
Anthony Rotz 152, Colin Ventura 160 and Dylan Bender 138 finished second.
Warde sent its JV squad to the Trumbull Duals on Jan 11, where the Mustangs defeated Danbury 39-36, New Milford 41-27, Trumbull 57-15 and New Fairfield and was crowned meet champions.
