Kochiss, Wikman lead Jesuits to 4-4 tie with NDWH

No. 1 Fairfield Prep took on No. 2 Notre Dame of West Haven in hockey, and the SCC rivals played to a 4-4 draw at the Wonderland of Ice on Jan. 4.

Prep is 3-2-1 and NDWH 5-1-1.

Kenny Kochiss scored for coach Matt Sathers’ Jesuits at the 6:21 mark of the third period to even the game at 4. Brendan Killoy and Matt Wikman had the assists.

Wikman scored for Prep at 8:56 of the opening period to forge a 1-1 tie. Justin Blanchette had the assist.

Notre Dame’s Ryan Lynch scored his second goal of the game early in the second period for coach Tim Belcher’s Green Knights.

Kochiss from Wikman made it 2-2, and Prep took a 3-2 lead on Wikman’s tally at 12:20 with Dean Lockery and Kochiss earning assists.

Lynch scored at 1:01 and 2:17 of the third to put Notre Dame back on top.

Matt Beck had 37 saves for Prep and Wade Conlan 38 for ND.
