Chase Lind a champion, Ludlowe fifth

Fairfield Ludlowe finished fifth on Jan. 4, at the Warde Invitational, won by Warde, who outpointed the 13-team field.
Coach Nick Garoffolo’s Falcons placed 7-of-10 wrestlers entered, with four finalists.
Chase Lind was seeded fourth at 147 pounds and won two matches by fall, before defeating top seed Phil Neamonitis of Warde 9-3 in the semifinals and second seed Chris Mazur of Westhill 11-6 for the title.
“Chase wrestled with amazing toughness athletic ability and smart strategy to win these bouts,” Garoffolo reported. “ As a sophomore he is showing a lot of poise.”
Second-place finishers for Ludlowe were senior Ben Batulanon at 120, junior George Wales at 106 and senior Eric Kirchgasser at 113. Each won two matches before losing in the finals.
Sophomores taking third place were Marcus Sherrod at 126 and Bobby Clark at 132. Each went 3-1 on the day.
