Obituary: Genevieve Sendzik, of Fairfield

Genevieve Sendzik, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013.  Born in Bridgeport to the late Stanley and Julia Slonina, she was a longtime Fairfield resident.

Prior to her retirement, she was a supervisor of Quality Control at Remington Arms.

Genevieve was a generous, loving person with a great sense of humor. She had a knack for instantly connecting with everyone she met and would always help anyone in need. She loved her family immensely and always made them her top priority.

She was a true fan of basketball and followed the UCONN women’s team as well as the teams at St. Thomas School. She also was a member of the Remington Arms Retirees Club.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Darlene O’Toole and her husband, Brian and her son, Greg Sendzik and his wife Pam, both of Fairfield. She also leaves her four cherished grandchildren, Tyler O’Toole and Brittany, Connor and Julia Sendzik and many nieces and nephews.

Genevieve was predeceased by her husband, Demetri; her sisters, Mary Kudey, Florence Plesce and Loretta Leighton and her two brothers, Joseph and Louis Slonina.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, 1719 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT 06824.

Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center is in charge of the arrangements.
