More than 500 attend Pequot Library’s holiday caroling party

Horse-drawn carriage rides were part of the festivities at Pequot Library’s caroling party and open house, held on Dec. 20.

Pequot Library kicked off the holiday season on Dec. 20 with a children’s crafts, carriage rides through Southport Village and a performance by Fairfield Country Day School’s The Pinstripes for its annual caroling party and open house.

The event, which was free and open to the public, was made possible by business sponsor Kasson Jewelers, and co-sponsor Fairfield Country Day School, along with business sponsor Kingston Family Vineyards.

Pequot Library’s auditorium/concert Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, and a fire with firewood donated by Burt’s Mulch/Firewood warmed the Reading Room, where William Russell, president of Pequot Library’s Board of Trustees, served as host and bartender.

Children’s Librarian Susan Ei and Pequot’s volunteer youth helped keep the kids’ craft areas organized, as well as the bonfire on the Great Lawn going. Pequot’s staff helped both inside and out.
