CT Challenge names new wellness director

Victoria Fairchild

The CT Challenge welcomes Victoria (Tori) Fairchild as the new wellness director at its Fairfield-based Center for Survivorship, the only stand-alone survivorship center in the country and an incubator for best practices that will set the model for survivorship programs nationwide.

As wellness director, Fairchild is responsible for all programming, staffing and overall center operations.

Fairchild’s expertise in building and then customizing fitness programs to meet a range of health goals gives the center a central staff person to lead its second year of serving its growing membership.

Fairchild transformed what had been an avocation into her vocation, first as an assistant general manager of Equinox at the 92nd Street and Broadway location in New York City, then moving to the Mamaroneck, N.Y., facility.

She spent the next four years as general manager of the Darien Equinox, leading all programs and staffing before leaving to partner in the opening of the New Canaan-based Oxygen Fitness, also as general manager.

“My family has been hit hard by cancer,” Fairchild said. “The chance to put my knowledge and experience to work helping other people impacted by it is irresistible to me. I wish a place like the center had been available to my relatives.”

Following many years spent in the high-end fashion and retail industry in positions of increasing responsibility at companies ranging from Saks Fifth Avenue and Aeropostale to Coach, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Ann Taylor, Fairchild took the leap to follow what had always been her true passion — making a difference in people’s lives through fitness and other lifestyle supports.
