Holiday shopping outdoors, with wares offered by local merchants and crafters, comes to Fairfield this weekend.

PopShop Market, a curated open-air European-style marketplace, will be open Sunday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Brick Walk Promenade, 1215 Post Road.

“Picture this,” Andrea Espach said. “You’re fashionably bundled up on a winter day with snowflakes softly falling, twinkling lights overhead and heaters scattered about to keep you toasty as you make your way from outdoor pop-up shop to pop-up shop checking out unique clothing, jewelry, stationery, home décor, art, furniture, and unique gifts.”

Espach, Kelly Scinto and Ashley Kane, who organized the open-air market, said PopShop will include most shops and restaurants in the Brick Walk, as well as vendors who will set up shop outside, and food trucks.

Carolers and Santa Claus will also visit.

Espach, Scinto and Kane experienced open-air markets while traveling, and wanted to bring the experience to Fairfield.

“This is about taking all the things we like and bringing it to one place so people can enjoy themselves, have breakfast, lunch or dinner and the kids (and husbands) will be entertained. It’s a great family event,” Espach said.

Vendors scheduled to attend include Lady Faith, The Lions Paw, Rustic Wares, Ellie Madison Jewelry, Ellsworth & Ivey and Reworx.

Pop-up restaurants will include such food trucks as Lobster Craft, Fryborg, Sugar & Olives, Oats Granola, Unbakeables, and more.

The organizers said they are excited about the “most epic signature BarCar” ever as well, offering mulled wine, festive holiday cocktails and locally brewed beers.

Bar O, 1229 Post Road, and Mecca Noodle Bar, 1215 Post Road, will participate in a seasonal cocktail competition. With football games on televisions and wings and other treats on the menu, Bar O’s Liquid Mistletoe Cocktail and Mecca’s Happy Holi-Daze Cocktail will compete for top spot in this customers’ choice competition. Those who purchase one cocktail will get the competitor’s at half-price.

Floral designer Carrie Wilcox will be hosting a free workshop on decorating boxwood trees.

Children’s activities will include decorating gingerbread men with the Pink Cupcake Shack and photos with Santa by Capital Photo.
