Legion baseball clinic and evaluation planned

The Fairfield American Legion Post 143 baseball program will be having its annual Clinic and Evaluation in January at The Clubhouse Baseball and Softball Training Facility on Black Rock Turnpike.
All players interested in playing Junior and Senior Legion baseball for the 2014 summer season are required to attend two out of three sessions, which start at 3 p.m. on Jan. 4, 5 and 12. There is a $25 fee for each session.
Players must be Fairfield residents and at least a freshman in high school.
Legion also offers offseason professional strength and conditioning as well as hitting clinics throughout the winter monitored by former Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball players.
It also have offseason pitching sessions in early February, given by a 12th-round Major League Baseball draft pick and 2012 College World Series participant.
Since 1925 American Legion Baseball has taught young men the importance of sportsmanship good health and active citizenship. Players also participate in community service activities throughout the year.
