The Fairfield Prep football team defeated West Haven, 29-28, in the Class LL state semifinals held at Trumbull High on Saturday.
Coach Tom Shea’s No. 7 Jesuits (11-2) will play No. 7 Southington (11-1) for the title at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Arute Field on the campus of Central Connecticut State University.
Nick Crowle ran for a 28-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to defeat the No. 6 Westies (10-3).
Colton Smith scored on touchdown runs of nine and one yard for Prep, which trailed 13-9 at the half.
The Jesuits took a 22-19 lead into the final period, after John DelliSanti returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown.
West Haven’s Ervin Phillips scored from three yards out, and went back on top 26-22 on Tayvon Gibbs’ PAT kick.
Cowle’s score, and Hank Healy’s conversion kick, made it 29-28, and Smith gave the Westies a two-point safety to end the game.
