Obituary: Frances Elizabeth (Smollin) Lillicraf, 88, of Fairfield

Frances Elizabeth (Smollin) Lillicraf, age 88, of Fairfield, died in her home on Saturday, November 30, 2013 after her 12 year battle with Alzheimers.

Born into her Irish Heritage on July 30, 1925 in Maywood, NJ to John and Frances Smollin, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Rutherford, N.J.

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her dedicated husband of 65 years, Donald Lillicraf, and her loving children, son John Lillicraf and his wife, Kathleen of Cheshire, son Paul Lillicraf and his wife, Anne of Easton, son Rome Lillicraf and his wife, Dianne of Trumbull and daughter Ginger (Lillicraf) Thompson and her husband, Bryan of Fairfield.  Frances leaves seven grandchildren whom she adored, Charles Lillicraf, Caroline Lillicraf, Megan Thompson, Riley Thompson, Quinn Thompson, Hannah Lillicraf and Blake Lillicraf. She also leaves several nieces and nephews in the New England area.

She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Smollin and sister Ginny St. Clair.

A special remembrance and gratitude to her caregiver, Diana Douglas who with Donald Lillicraf selflessly cared for Frances in her last years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church where she was a devout member of the parish for forty-three years. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Assn., Research, 607 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.

Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center is in charge of the arrangements.
