Prep's Shawn Blake and Dean Lockery choose colleges

Fairfield Prep’s Shawn Blake and Dean Lockery signed National Letter of Intents to play collegiate baseball on Nov. 18.
Blake will attend the University of Albany and Lockery Central Connecticut State University.
Blake was the starting first baseman for the Jesuits last season, and helped lead them to the Class LL state semifinals for the first time in 20 years.
He received numerous accolades, including All-SCC Quinnipiac Division and New Haven Register All-Area Team honors. He was also selected to play in the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Junior All-Star Game
Blake has exhibited the same dedication as a successful student, and has contributed service in the local community by volunteering weekly at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield.
A standout athlete in two sports, Lockery has been a member of the varsity hockey team that won the SCC title and State championship in 2013. He earned Player of the Game honors in the SCC championship game.
Lockery has started as a middle infielder since his sophomore season, and was a key to the Jesuits’ posting the program’s best record since 1985 a year ago.
A fine student, Lockery has contributed service to the local community in assisting at a local shelter. He volunteered at Prep’s freshman orientation and also chose to take on the challenge of Prep’s Urban Plunge immersion program.
