Offers solution to town’s high property tax

To the Editor:

Fairfield is a densely populated town of single family-owned homes. These homes usually have one or more children who attend schools and the per student costs exceeds the taxes paid.

The solution is to stop building any new homes in town. Instead, since seniors use less of the towns service (mainly the costly school system), I would recommend that any future building be townhouses and condos strictly for 55 and over.

This would also probably make the existing single family homes more desirable and valuable (law of supply and demand), while at the same time leveling the growth of our costly education system.

The seniors who could afford these condos or townhouses also probably would not qualify for any form of tax relief and in all probability have no children in the school system.
