Cautions voters to not fall into ‘false-choice trap’

To the Editor:

Probably the most important thing I’ve learned as a voter and an RTM representative is to ignore false-choice politics.

As a collaborative teaching artist, I’ve learned that inventive solutions often come from under the radar, between the lines.

There is absolutely no practical reason to pit neighbor against neighbor, seniors against school children, union employees against taxpayers. We can solve our budget problems together if we have the will to dig deeply enough for the facts and have sufficient time for free and honest debate —- sans rancor and divisiveness, which serve no one. But dear voters, you must do your part too.

Get the facts, go to fairfieldtaxpayer.com, watch FairTV on cable or Internet, visit the town website, read the papers. Be alert not only to words, but the deeds supporting them. Think for yourselves and vote informed. Our town’s future depends on it.
