State Rep. Kim Fawcett has teamed up with the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce to recognize women owned local businesses. Fawcett is highlighting businesses for their contribution with a monthly recognition award.

The “Fairfield Women’s Economic Spotlight” event will be hosted monthly by Fawcett and the chamber as part of an ongoing effort to recognize local small businesses for their contribution to our community and economy.

“I want to thank these businesses, while also celebrating women who are often balancing so much more than just running a business,” Fawcett said. “Women make enormous contributions to our community. This monthly award will be presented to women whose businesses contribute to the economy and character of our town’s vital business community.”

“The Fairfield Chamber is thrilled to team up with Rep. Fawcett and bring much needed attention to our thriving small business community,” said Beverly Balaz, executive director of the Fairfield chamber. “I am eager to spotlight and celebrate the diverse economic fabric that makes Fairfield such a wonderful place to live.”

The Fairfield Women’s Economic Spotlight this month recognizes Salon 1560 and manager Victoria Vitale Niedermeier. It is a family-owned business that has been in downtown Fairfield for three generations and more than 40 years. Many longtime residents may remember the former name Salon Vitale at the same location.

Vitale followed in her grandfather and father’s footsteps when she decided to join the salon more than 20 years ago. She is a certified colorist and designer who trains future stylists. The regular assortment of sweets at the salon allows Victoria’s baking hobby to be put to the test and she enjoys welcoming clients to taste-test her signature fresh baked items.
