Warde defeats Wilton, 35-21

The Fairfield Warde football team scored 28 unanswered points in the second quarter and went on to defeat Wilton, 35-21, on Friday night in Fairfield.
The Mustangs are 2-4 and the Warriors 3-3.
Quarterback Brett Phillips scored on a six-yard run with 2:42 left in the first quarter to give Wilton a 6-0 lead.
Warde rallied with a pair of touchdown passes from Brandon Bisack to Ryan Brown.
Bisack added a quarterback sneak for a score and Jack Whiting returned an interception for another touchdown.
Brown’s second touchdown catch came with 38.5 seconds left in the second quarter, as Warde took a 28-6 halftime lead.
Wilton’s Ethan Segall’s interception was followed by Phillips’ 10-yard touchdown pass to Dan Baird with 23 seconds left in the third quarter.
Phillips then connected with Ace Sakamoto on the two-point conversion, pulling Wilton within 28-14.
Phillips returned a Warde punt 73 yards for a touchdown with 10:07 left in the fourth quarter, cutting Wilton’s deficit to 28-21.
But Warde intercepted a Phillips ‘pass at the 5:33 mark, and the Mustangs eventually scored on a one-yard touchdown run to seal the victory.
