Jesuits fall to Tigers, 35-27

Fairfield Prep’s football team lost to Daniel Hand, 35-27, in Madison on Friday.
Prep (4-2) trailed the Tigers (5-1) 28-6 at the half, before it scored three touchdowns in the final period.
Colton Smith scored on a 3-yard run to make it 7-6 in the first quarter, after the Tigers’ Dan Rogers had returned a Jesuit fumble 25 yards to give Hand the lead.
Tom Wilson’s 85-yard kickoff return boosted Hand’s lead to 14-6 after one, and the Tigers added two more scores before the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Nick Crowle scored on runs of 2 and 1 yards, and caught a two-point conversion pass from Smith to make it a 28-20 game in the final period.
Hand added a score before Smith found Jake Buckley for a 9-yard touchdown.
