7th grade gridders defeat Wilton

In the most physical game of the season, the 5-1 Fairfield grade 7 Black defeated Wilton, 8-6. They scored in the second quarter on a David Summers’ strike to Will Stearns.
The acrobatic and speedy Stearns emerged last season as the most dangerous deep threat in the organization and proved big again yesterday.
Summers connected with Jesse Lawson for the two-point conversion on a big catch in heavy traffic over the middle to go up 8-0.
The Wildcats threatened twice in the second half, led by big carries throughout the frame by rushing leader Brian Howell, but the physical visitors from Wilton kept the game within its reach.
Wilton scored to get close, but the front six of Fairfield — Aidan Kilgallon, Sean Fuller, Justin Coudert, Wyatt Garrity, Michael Eaton and Griffin Forberg — stuffed the two-point attempt in its tracks.
James Tozlosky played a solid game for the home team, along with Colin Wilson and Jack Howard.
The 7th grade Black team will play host to Westport at Ludlowe High on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
8th grade

Despite strong offensive play by Timmy Jacobi and Lexi Linsemeyer, and a strong punt return by Hunter Marson, the Wildcats remained scoreless.
The Tigers repeated their first quarter success in the fourth quarter and posted an additional seven points.
The Wildcats will visit Weston Sunday at 3 p.m.
6th grade
Despite a gutsy performance by the defense that kept the game close throughout, the Wildcats lost at home to New Canaan Red 14-0 on Saturday.
The hard-hitting linebacker corps of Griffin Gallati, Tristan Breheny, Jason Conklin and Liam Hawley effectively stymied New Canaan’s run game and kept it scoreless in the first half.
The secondary excelled as well, with Ryan Lawrence, Sean Nelson and Evan Rose batting down deep throws and coming up to help stuff the run.
The 6th graders are back in action at Ludlowe this Saturday morning at 9 against Weston.
5th grade
The Wildcats lost a hard-fought contest to Wilton on Saturday.
The Wildcats came out strong with two first-half touchdowns by Lorenzo Cooper – a 73-yard breakaway run in the first quarter and a 6-yard score just before half.
Two second-half scores by Wilton gave them the 21-12 win.
Offensive standouts for Fairfield included running back Jonathan Gladstone and Brendan Howard, with Jack Gremse, Harry Chandler and Ryan McIntosh anchoring a solid Wildcats defense.
4th grade Black
The Wildcats hosted Ridgefield Orange this week in what would be a defensive match up.
Ridgefield would march down the field to open the scoring in the first quarter.
The Wildcats would rely on Kevin Howard, Adam Pushner, Danny Haidar and William Blumenthal to help reduce the first downs.
Harrison Keith recorded his first sack and Casey Woodfine forced a fumble recovered by Jack Reilling to help keep the game close.
Ridgefield took a 15-0 lead into the half.
Connor Westerlund and Patrick Covino split carries to help balance movement with the ball.
Jack Reilling put the Wildcats on the board with a fake hand off to Keith and scored on a keeper to make for a 15-6 final.
