Ludlowe falls to Staples' second-half surge

The Fairfield Ludlowe football team stood toe-to-toe with Staples of Westport into the third quarter on Friday night, before the Wreckers scored 21 points in the period on their way to a 52-23 victory on Friday.
Coach Vin Camera’s Falcons are 3-2 and Staples is 4-1.
Charlie Kottler gave Ludlowe a 3-0 lead with a 38-yard field goal, before Peter Lesch scored the first of his three touchdowns for the Wreckers.
It was 17-3 when the Falcons’ Matt White scored on a 28-yard run and Kottler added the PAT.
The defense chipped in here with a 47-yard interception return by Cole Gottlieb to close within a point at the break.
A 77-yard punt return by Will Johnson for a score sparked Staples, which had the next three touchdowns.
White made it 45-23 with a 2-yard run.
