Warde AD leaving to take over Darien athletics

Fairfield Warde Athletic Director Christopher Manfredonia will be leaving to take the same position with Darien Schools.

The Darien Board of Education unanimously voted Tuesday, Sept. 10, to hire Manfredonia.

Michael Sullivan, who previously served as Darien’s AD, left that post to return to his role as assistant principal at Darien High School after one year as athletic director.

John Keleher, who retired last year, will serve as Darien’s interim AD until Manfredonia begins his job in Darien in October.

As athletic director at Fairfield Warde, Manfredonia was responsible for overseeing 36 athletic teams and approximately 110 certified coaches. “He was involved in all aspects of the school’s interscholastic athletic program operations, including the recruitment and evaluation of coaches, leadership of student-athlete support programs, oversight of the budget process, compliance with league and State governing regulations, event management, and the development of collaborative and supportive relationships with parents and booster organizations,” according to a Darien Schools press release.
