Greens Farms Academy adds new preschool program

Janet Hartwell, head of School for Greens Farms Academy, has announced the addition of a Pre-K program to the school.

“We have bright, young children who apply to our kindergarten, but are not quite ready and would benefit from another year,” Hartwell said. “A Pre-K class gives these children a program that is developmentally appropriate for 4- and 5-year-olds, while also providing the advantage of GFA’s facilities, location and program.”

The new preschool will be open for the 2014-15 school year, and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with extended hours available. The student/teacher ratio will be 5:1, and students will be exposed to emerging literacy skills, mathematics and social studies, as well as “specials” such as art, physical education, music, Spanish and explorations of the surrounding ecosystems: Burying Hill Beach, the Audubon Woodland and the tidal marsh. Additional information about the program can be found on the school
