Harbor Management Commission honors retiring DPW director

On Aug. 21, 2012, the Fairfield Harbor Management Commission recognized retiring Public Works Director Richard White for his “outstanding professionalism and many years of distinguished service to the commission and to the Town of Fairfield.”

After a review of the commission’s past and ongoing projects on which White and Public Works personnel have provided vital support, Commission Chairman Mary von Conta presented White with a framed aerial photograph of Southport Harbor.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau praised White as an “exceptional engineer” and “the most accomplished Public Works Director in the State of Connecticut.”

White noted the many hours devoted by commissioners in service to the town and expressed his appreciation of the commission’s “dedicated efforts to manage Southport Harbor for the public’s use and enjoyment.”

“The commission was so pleased to honor Mr. White whose pleasant management style and through knowledge of Southport Harbor has been invaluable,” von Conta said.
