Ludlowe completed its Summer Basketball League season with a 49-38 defeat at the hands of Bridge Academy in Stratford on Aug. 22.
Caroline Pangallo scored 11 points, eight coming in the first half to give Ludlowe a 21-19 lead at the break.
Julia Von Ehr scored 10 points, Caroline Yates and Sara Grabowski six each and Sullie Desmond five.
Bridge Academy used a trapping defense and a deep bench to wear down the short-rostered locals.
Pangallo opened the game with a three-point play and Yates took a pass from Desmond for a 5-0 lead over the Bridgeport-based Academy.
Three straight hoops off transition rebounds gave Bridge Academy the lead at 6-5.
Pangallo’s steal led to a run-out basket and Von Ehr then found her open on the wing for a 3-pointer.
A Meghan Curran rebound resulted in an extended possession, and Desmond took Yates’ kick-out pass and buried a trey from the corner for a 13-6 advantage nine minutes into the 20-minute first half.

Yates made a brace of free throws to make it a nine-point margin, but Bridge Academy battled back with three breakaway baskets off steals.
Grabowski, who teamed especially with Yates to try and stem their taller rivals, ended the skein with a basket inside. Von Ehr went the distance with a rebound to tally in transition for a 19-12 lead.
Bridge Academy scored five straight points, before Desmond stole the ball back, was fouled, and hit both free throws for the two-point lead at the break.
Four straight turnovers to open the second half fueled Bridge Academy’s 11-0 run.
Ludlowe maintained its controlled offense, but stopped going to the basket and those longer possessions led to giveaways.
Grabowski took the ball down the lane to bring the locals within 30-23 with 14:45 remaining in the game.
Grabowski next went to the floor to gain possession and fed Yates for a bucket.
Curran followed suit and her pass from the floor on the baseline resulted in a Von Ehr 3-pointer and a four-point game.
Von Ehr’s long-range jumper off a Yates assist brought Ludlowe within 34-33, before Bridge Academy found a couple of seams and tallied on strong drives to the basket on back-to-back trips down the court.
Von Ehr’s runner with six minutes left brought Ludlowe within 40-35, but the locals could only muster a Pangallo put back and free throw the rest of the way.
