Fairfield Police: Keep your eyes on the road

airfield police are asking drivers to be more careful and pay attention to the roads after responding to 38 separate motor vehicle accidents just from Monday, June 3, through the morning of Wednesday, June 5.

“I don’t remember there ever being this many accidents in such a sort period of time,” said Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy.

Why the sudden spike has occurred remains a mystery.

The majority of collisions were minor, with few needing any medical assistance. Some complained of pain.

Lyddy showed a map of the reported accidents over the previous few days. A collection of pins on the digital map were clustered around the center of town while others dotted North Benson and other roadways.

“We’re asking drivers to please avoid distractions,” said Lyddy. “And pay attention while you are driving.”
