Ludlowe upends St. Joseph in FCIACs

The Fairfield Ludlowe baseball team defeated third-seeded St. Joseph, 10-2, in the FCIAC quarterfinals in Trumbull on Monday.
Coach Keith O’Rourke’s sixth-seeded Falcons, winners of 11 straight games, will play seventh-seeded Danbury at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the semifinals at Harbor Yard.
Andrew Salveson stranded seven Cadet baserunners through three innings, and Ludlowe scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to snap a 2-2 tie.
Kevin Hickey hit a bases-loaded double into the left field corner for a 5-2 lead.
Mike Poudrier followed with an RBI double and Tommy Howell singled him in.
Hickey added a two-run single in the fifth.
