Fairfield police warn of spike in car break-ins

Fairfield police are warning residents, especially those in the Stratfield area, about an increase in the number of car burglaries.

Police reminded residents to lock, alarm and empty vehicles of all valuables, especially electronics, bags and cases left in plain view.

Residents were also encouraged to illuminate the exterior of houses and driveways.

In a Code Red message sent shortly before noon Thursday, May 16, Fairfield police said they are actively investigating these crimes but seeks the public’s assistance in solving and preventing them.

Suspicious people and activity should be reported immediately to police.
