More concern needed for unemployed Americans

To the Editor:

The immigrant population in Connecticut towns and cities is  doubling, tripling, increasing as much as five times. It has been reported that 11 million illegal immigrants now live in our country. Bipartisan groups in Congress and the House have been working months to hammer out an immigration reform bill to get enough votes to legitimize these immigrants.

We would like to show sympathy for all illegal immigrants, but we must keep in mind the nightmare situation of 16 million unemployed, middle class, loyal American citizens, jobless for years, unemployment insurance exhausted.

Welcoming illegal immigrants will encourage them to bring their entire families and relatives to America. Where are Congressional priorities when they show more concern for illegal immigrants than 16 million unemployed American workers?
